Canadian Publicly Traded Firms
24.1 How is the company connected politically on the local, state, and national level?
24.2 List any top management or Board members who hold or have held political positions.
Management and the firms they work at are often involved in the political process. This includes both financial contributions and lobbying. Tracking them both provides very useful information on how they are involved in politics.
To identify both internal and external lobbyists you target firm uses, search the Registry of Lobbyists.
To find if your target firm receives any government contracts go to the Disclosure of Contracts over $10,000.
The Management Information Circular available from SEDAR is the best place to get information on the Board of Directors to see if any have political connections. Some information may also be available on the company annual report and on the company web site. Use a Canadian News Search to find out more.
